I'm hoping that the Admin, or someone can give me a hand reviving my MP4 player. What happenned was I was having problems getting the external speaker to work (I had been working before), so I backed-up the firmware and tried to reload it. Unfortunately, for some reason the connection dropped out right after the upload started.
This basically killed my player. My computer would no longer recognize it, and the screen of the player was permanently stuck on the hourglass boot screen.
I followed the link to the Dead Player Recovery Guide at s1mp3.org. I was able to short the memory, per instructions, and was able to get my computer to recognize my player as an ADFU device. I was then able to use the flash_1.bin from the mp680-cl-v11 (1.5" screen 128x128) package on the firmware list to at least get my player's screen completely blue. However, I still can't get the updater tool do upload the old firmware back to my player, but at least my computer now recognizes my player as an ADFU device.
Does anybody know why the firmware updating process would just keep cutting out a second or two after starting? (It's interesting to note that it went through without a problem when I used the flash_1.bin from Ian_Hawdon at s1mp3.org)
My player is a 1.8" color screen 1GB mp4 player with Onki MV-900 printed below the screen.
Any tips or theories would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks, TroutFisher

There is a process you can do. You need to have a full firmware and merge it with your dump.bin file from your player. I do not know exactly where to get the files nor have I ever tried it yet due to the fact that my player works just fine and I am not chancing a F/W upgrade. But I just recently recieved a $50.00 donation from a guy in Texas and I am using this money to buy a player for testing purposes only.
